It’s headed to the Senate Finance committee!
On June 30, 2021 the North Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee met and voted in approval of Senate Bill 711, the North Carolina Compassionate Care Act! The bill was on its way to the next 3 committees for approval: finance, healthcare, then lastly rules and operations.
The Senate Finance committee will meet on Wednesday July 21, to address the bill. It is incredible that the bill has made it this far in the process, but it still has a long way to go. If approved by the Senate Finance committee, it will then head to the Health Care committee.
This medical marijuana bill has the best shot yet due to the outspoken support of Republican Senator Bill Rabon who is also the chairman of the Rules and Operations committee. SB 711 is also supported by Senators Paul Lowe, D-Forsyth, and Michael Lee, R-New Hanover.
